At Lakenheath Primary School every child in Early Years and Key Stage One has a daily phonics session to help them to learn their sounds and apply them to reading and writing.Children are assessed each term and grouped with children who are working within the same Letter Phase. Each lesson lasts 25 minutes. We primarily follow the Phonics Bug programme to support the teaching and learning, combined with actions and songs from the Jolly Phonics Program for the youngest children. Every child in Early Years and in Key Stage One has a home log-in to the Phonics Bug website where they can access books and activities specifically designed to support their learning in school. Another useful website for home learning is Mr Thorne Does Phonics.
